The Carolina Hurricanes and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Tuesday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes will look to build on their four-game winning streak after a 4-3 win over Dallas last time out. Vincent Trocheck, Andrei Svechnikov and Sebastian Aho each have 6 points with Trocheck and Svechnikov each posting 4 goals while Aho has a team-high 5 assists. Dougie Hamilton, Jordan Staal and Martin Necas each have 4 points with Staal and Necas each logging 3 assists and Hamilton putting up 4 assists on the year. Petr Mrazek and James Reimer have dominated the crease for the ‘Canes, with Reimer going 3-0 with a 1.99 GAA while Mrazek has a pair of wins with a 0.99 GAA and a pair of shutouts.
The Chicago Blackhawks will be out to build off of a 3-1 win over Columbus in their last outing. Patrick Kane leads the Hawks in scoring with 10 points including 4 goals and a team-high 6 assists, while Mattias Janmark, Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome and Dominik Kubalik each have 6 points with Kubalik and DeBrincat each posting 4 assists while Strome and Janmark each have 3 goals and 3 assists. Connor Murphy, Duncan Keith and Pius Suter each have 5 points with Suter posting 4 goals, Keith logging 5 assists and Murphy splitting his points with 2 goals and 3 helpers. Kevin Lankinen continues to lead the Chicago goaltending with 6 starts, including 3 wins and a 1.97 GAA this season.
Carolina is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 7-3 in their last 10 road games while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 games as a favorite. Chicago is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 4-11 in their last 15 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a home underdog. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I get why Carolina’s favored on the road, but the issue I have here is that the ‘Canes, despite a 5-1 record, have had the bulk of their success at home and against a Blackhawks team that’s had ALL of their wins come at home this season, I think this could be a bit of a letdown after a pair of wins over Dallas last week. Chicago’s building steam with Kevin Lankinen in goal and I just think this could be a nice value spot for Chicago. Give me the Blackhawks and the plus money here.
