The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from the Staples Center on Tuesday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues in their last matchup. Ryan Getzlaf leads the Ducks in points with 5 points all coming on assists while Carter Rowney, Jakob Silfverberg and Max Comtois each have 4 points with Comtois and Silfverberg logging 3 goals each while Rowney has 4 assists. After that group, Danton Heinen, Nicolas Deslauriers, Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rakell each have 3 points with Heinen, Deslauriers and Lindholm all logging a pair of goals while Rakell has a pair of assists. John Gibson has started the majority of games in goal for the Ducks, going 3-6 with a 2.51 GAA and a pair of shutouts this season.
The Los Angeles Kings will try to bounce back from a 5-3 loss to the Wild in their last outing. Anze Kopitar has a team-high 12 points with 11 assists while Drew Doughty, Dustin Brown and Jeff Carter each have 6 points with Doughty and Brown putting up 3 goals and 3 assists each and Carter putting up 5 assists. Andreas Athanasiou, Alex Iafallo and Adrian Kempe each have 5 points with Athanasiou and Kempe logging 3 goals and 2 assists and Iafallo has 2 goals and 3 helpers this season. Jonathan Quick has a 2-3 record with a 3.54 GAA on the year while Cal Petersen’s got a 1-2 record with a 2.38 GAA this season.
Anaheim is 21-43 in their last 64 road games and 3-8 in their last 11 games overall while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 games overall. Los Angeles is 7-3 in their last 10 home games and 6-2 in their last 8 games as a favorite while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. The favorite is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.
These are two teams I didn’t have high hopes for coming into the season, but the Kings have made me eat my words early on as they’re playing some pretty decent hockey and even in losing efforts, they’re battling hard and giving teams fits. Anaheim continues to struggle though, and they’ve only brought it on themselves in my opinion as nothing was done to improve the offensive issues of this team from last year. I just think the Ducks have to be a fade until we see signs of life from this team so I’ll lay the cheap price with the Kings in this spot.
