The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers meet in NHL action from Rogers Place on Saturday night.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to build on their 4-3 win over the Oilers last time out. Mitch Marner leads the Leafs in scoring with 13 points including 5 goals and a team-high 8 assists while Auston Matthews has 9 points with 5 goals and 4 helpers. William Nylander has 3 goals and 5 assists and John Tavares has 4 goals and 4 helpers for his 8 points. Morgan Rielly checks in with 7 points including 6 assists and Jason Spezza and Justin Holl each have 5 points with a combined 9 assists between the two. Frederik Andersen’s started 7 matchups for the Leafs with a 5-2 record and a 2.87 GAA so far this season.
The Edmonton Oilers will look to bounce back and salvage a win against the Leafs after dropping the last matchup. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in scoring with 14 points including a team-high 9 assists and 5 goals while Leon Draisaitl has 6 goals and 7 assists for his 13 points while Darnell Nurse and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each have 7 points with Nurse logging 6 assists while Nugent-Hopkins has 4 goals and 3 helpers on the year. Kailer Yamamoto has 3 goals and 3 assists as well for his 6 points so far this season. Mikko Koskinen’s started all 9 games for Edmonton, posting a 3-6 record with a 3.50 GAA so far this year.
Toronto is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 road games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games. Toronto is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings between these two teams and 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Edmonton.
I get why plus money sounds tempting with the Oilers as plus money and Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl sound tempting. However, there’s not much else going on with Edmonton besides those two guys and a couple of other players and that’s not going to cut it against a Toronto team that’s firing on all cylinders and one that’s never lost in the 5 meetings in two years that have been played at Rogers Place. I just think that Toronto’s playing too well and we’re not going to get prices like these on Toronto for much longer. I’ll side with Toronto and the cheap price on the money line here.
