The New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres meet in NHL action from the KeyBank Center on Tuesday night.
The New York Rangers will look to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to the Penguins last time out. Artemi Panarin has 2 goals and 4 assists for a team-high 6 points while Adam Fox is right behind with 5 points coming on a goal and 4 helpers. Pavel Buchnevich and Phil Di Giuseppe each have 4 points with Buchnevich logging 2 goals with 2 helpers and Di Giuseppe adding 4 assists. Filip Chytil has 3 points with a pair of goals for the Rangers this season. Igor Shesterkin’s seen the bulk of the goalie duties with 4 starts and 10 goals allowed on 88 shots against with a 2.98 GAA while Alexandar Georgiev is 1-1 with a 2.40 GAA this season.
The Buffalo Sabres will try to build off of a 4-3 shootout win over the Capitals in their last game. Jack Eichel leads the Sabres with 7 points all coming off of assists while Taylor Hall has 6 points including 5 assists. Victor Olofsson has 5 points coming on 3 goals and 2 assists and Sam Reinhart has 4 points split between 2 goals and 2 helpers. Curtis Lazar, Rasmus Ristolainen and Eric Staal all have 3 points with Lazar and Staal each logging a pair of goals while Ristolainen has a pair of assists. Carter Hutton and Linus Ullmark have each made 3 appearances this season, with Hutton logging a 2.65 GAA and Ullmark posting a similar 2.55 GAA this season.
New York is 1-8 in their last 9 games overall and 0-5 in their last 5 road games while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall. Buffalo is 3-10 in their last 13 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 Tuesday games while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 home games. The under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams in Buffalo.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game and it’s like splitting hairs to take a side, so I’m going to side with the over in this spot. Shesterkin’s numbers aren’t awful, but they’re a bit of a ways away from the goalie that was tearing up the league last year and the Sabres, well they just like to give up bunches of goals. Both teams have some solid scoring options within their lines though and I could easily see a 5-3 game here so give me the over.
