The Colorado Avalanche and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Friday night.
The Colorado Avalanche will be out to rebound after a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in their last outing. Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avs with 7 points including a team-high 5 assists while Mikko Rantanen has 5 points with a team-high 3 goals coming after a team-high 18 shots on goal this season. Samuel Girard and Cale Makar each have 4 assists from the defensive spots while Gabriel Landeskog, Andre Burakovsky and Devon Toews all have 3 points with the same mark of two goals and an assist up to this point. Phillip Grubauer’s seen the bulk of the starting action in goa, posting a 2-1 record with a 2.01 GAA and 6 goals allowed on 78 shots against.
The Anaheim Ducks will be out to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild in their last outing. Carter Rowney, Nicolas Deslauriers and Max Comtois each have a team-high 3 points with Rowney posting a team-high 3 assists while Comtois is responsible for half of Anaheim’s scoring this season with 3 goals and Delauriers is tied for the team-high with 11 shots on goal with 2 goals and an assist. Rickard Rakell also has 11 shots on goal but has yet to record a point this season while Sam Steel has a pair of assists. John Gibson’s seen the bulk of the starting work in goal with a 1-2 record with a 2.03 GAA and 6 goals against on 95 shots against this season.
Colorado is 15-5 in their last 20 road games and 13-5 in their last 18 games as a road favorite while the over is 11-3 in their last 14 games overall. Anaheim is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 games as an underdog while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. The road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
The plus money with the Ducks is tempting considering that Colorado was far from convincing in their back-to-back with the Kings. The problem is that the Ducks are horrendous offensively, scoring just six goals in their four games this season and you have to think the Avs will be a bit ticked off given how things went against the Kings on Thursday. I’ll back the Avs on the puck line as I just have zero faith in the ducks offensively to keep this one within reach.
