The Minnesota Wild and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Wednesday night.
The Minnesota Wild come into this one looking to salvage a win in the back-to-back after dropping the first half against the Ducks by a final score of 1-0 last time out.
Shots were even at 11-11 after the opening 20 minutes while Minnesota held a 14-10 edge in shots on goal in the second period and a 9-6 edge in the 3rd, but is was Anaheim finding what would be the game’s only goal off of the stick of Nicolas Deslauriers, and the Ducks would carry the goal to the finish line, shutting out the Wild and taking home the victory.
John Gibson ended up picking up the victory to improve his record to 1-1-1 on the year after stopping all 34 shots faced in the winning effort for Anaheim while Cam Talbot got the loss for Minnesota after allowing the game’s lone goal on 27 shots faced in the losing effort.
Minnesota is 10-3 in their last 13 road games and 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games as a road favorite. Anaheim is 1-4 in their last 5 games as an underdog and 6-21 in their last 27 games following a win while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog. The underdog is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams and the road team is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings as well.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game and while Anaheim getting in the win column was nice to see, I have a feeling that it’s not something that we should expect to see on a night-in, night-out basis. This Anaheim team still has scoring issues and side-by-side, the Wild are the better team, they just had an off night against Anaheim which is going to happen from time to time. I’ll lay the juice with Minnesota in a bounce back performance from the Wild here.
