The Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in the second half of a back-to-back set in NHL action on Tuesday night.
The Buffalo Sabres will look to build on their first win of the season after taking down the Flyers on Monday night by a final score of 6-1.
Curtis Lazar opened the scoring for the Sabres with just over four minutes to go in the opening period before Sam Reinhart pushed the lead to 3-0 early in the 2nd with a pair of goals 2:53 apart. Lazar made it 4-0 with his second goal of the game just 1:41 after Buffalo’s 3rd tally and the Sabres would carry that lead into the 3rd where Henri Jokiharju made it 5-0 just after the midway point of the final frame. Nicholas Aube-Kubel added a consolation goal for Philly to get the Flyers on the board with just over two minutes to go, but Victor Olofsson sent a message by responding with a 6th Buffalo goal just :54 later, allowing Buffalo to coast to the finish line at the final horn.
Carter Hutton got the win for Buffalo, improving to 1-1 after stopping 21 of 22 shots faced in the winning effort while Carter Hart took the loss, falling to 2-1 after allowing 4 goals on 22 shots before being pulled in the 2nd period.
Buffalo is 2-8 in their last 10 games overall and 40-95 in their last 135 games playing on no rest while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games as an underdog. Philadelphia is 21-8 in their last 29 games overall and 21-8 in their last 29 games as a home favorite while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Buffalo is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 3-13 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia.
The plus money with the Sabres is tempting after their impressive showing on Monday. However, it’s hard to beat the same team in a back-to-back, especially when the team on the other side is one of the better teams in the league in the Flyers. I just think the Flyers bounce back and salvage a split here, so I’ll side with the Flyers at home and lay the juice.
