The Minnesota Wild and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from Staples Center on Saturday night.
The Minnesota Wild will look to finish off the double-header sweep of the Kings after taking the first meeting by a final score of 4-3 last time out.
Jonas Brodin opened the scoring for the Wild with just under four minutes to go in the opening period but Jeff Carter would tie the game at one for Los Angeles with just seconds to go in the opening period. Andreas Athanasiou gave the Kings the lead early in the second period and Dustin Brown pushed the lead to 3-1 with just under three minutes to go in the middle period. Victor Rask cut the deficit to 3-2 for the Wild and Marcus Foligno tied the game at three for Minnesota just before the midway point of the 3rd period. Neither side was able to find the winning goal in regulation, so it was off to overtime where Kirill Kaprizov completed Minnesota’s comeback to give the Wild the win and the points that go with it.
Cam Talbot got the win for Minnesota after stopping 31 of 34 shots faced in the winning effort while Jonathan Quick ended up with the loss for the Kings after giving up all 4 goals on 27 shots in defeat.
Minnesota is 9-2 in their last 11 road games and 5-2 in their last 7 games as a road favorite while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Los Angeles is 3-10 in their last 13 Saturday games and 14-39 in their last 53 games playing on one days rest while the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games overall. Minnesota is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
It’s hard to beat the same team twice in a back-to-back, but the Los Angeles King from top to bottom might be the worst team in the NHL as there is just not much to be excited about except potentially another top draft pick. I just think that Minnesota is the better team here and it’s not a bad price either for the Wild, so give me Minnesota again here.
