The Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers meet Wednesday in NHL action at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Pittsburgh Penguins looked like a team that could win the Stanley Cup last season and then they hit a wall where nothing was going right. For the first time in 15 years, Marc-Andre Fleury or Matt Murray won’t be in net for the Penguins, putting a lot of pressure on Tristan Jarry to show up. The health of Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin will also go a long way if the Penguins are going to be top tier contenders this season. The pieces are there for the Penguins to return to the promised land, they just need consistency in net and to hope the bad injury luck is a thing of the past. Still, the Penguins aren’t a team you want to face when they have everything clicking.

The Philadelphia Flyers had a very successful season in year one under coach Alain Vigneault, taking to the Islanders to seven games in the second round of the playoffs. Carter Hart gives the Flyers a chance every night when he’s in net, and he should be very motivated this season in a contract year. Kevin Hayes is coming off possibly the best season of his career and Sean Couturier continues to be a model of consistency for these Flyers. Nolan Patrick has to get healthy and prove he can stay on the ice to feel better about the Flyers chances this season, but this is a team heading in the right direction and will be a factor in the East.

The Penguins are 2-7 in their last 9 road games and 4-11 in their last 15 overall. The Flyers are 23-9 in their last 32 home games and 19-7 in their last 26 overall. The under is 9-4-2 in Penguins last 15 road games. The under is 13-4-2 in Flyers last 19 overall. The Penguins are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Philadelphia.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are probably the safe bet here, especially now that they're healthy and should have a bad taste in their mouth with how the season ended. However, the Philadelphia Flyers were money making machines for us last season and it's hard to ignore that heading into a fresh season. The Flyers have become a team I just blindly back due to the constant cashed tickets. Things could change just as quickly as they start, but for now I'm still on the Flyers bandwagon.
