The Vegas Golden Knights and the Dallas Stars meet in game three of their best-of-seven Western Conference final series in NHL action from Rogers Place on Thursday.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to surge ahead in the series after tying the set up at one win apiece following a 3-0 win over the Stars in game two last time out.
The game was scoreless after the opening 20 minutes of play before Paul Stastny broke the deadlock less than five minutes into the second period. William Karlsson doubled the lead for Vegas just 3:31 later and Tomas Nosek pushed the lead to 3-0 with 5:28 to go in the middle frame. Dallas would outshoot Vegas 12-5 in the final period, but in the end, the Stars just would not have an answer as Dallas was held off of the scoreboard, leaving the win to go to Vegas and for the series to be knotted up at one win apiece at the final horn.
Robin Lehner got the win in goal for Vegas after stopping all 24 shots faced in the winning effort while Anton Khudobin took the loss between the pipes for Dallas after giving up all three goals on 27 shots faced in defeat.
Vegas is 23-7 in their last 30 games overall and 16-6 in their last 22 games following a win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 conference final games. Dallas is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the Pacific division and 9-3 in their last 12 Thursday games while the under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 conference final games. Vegas is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.
I get the Golden Knights being favored and I’ve gone on and on about how much I like their depth in the past. However, we’re still getting favorable prices with a Dallas team that’s played pretty well defensively even in defeat, the puck just didn’t bounce their way in game two. I think there’s too much value to pass on with the Stars here, so I’ll side with Vegas as my free pick for this game but my stronger play is on the total and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
