The Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights meet in game one of their best-of-seven Western Conference Finals series in NHL action from Rogers Place on Sunday.
The Dallas Stars come into this one looking to reach their first Stanley Cup final since 1999-2000 after taking down the Colorado Avalanche in seven games in their last series. Miro Heiskanen leads the Stars in the scoring department with 21 points as well as a team-high 16 assists while Denis Gurianov isn’t far off of the pace at the top with 15 points including a team-high 8 goals this postseason as part of his 15 point total up to this series. Jamie Benn has 13 points with 8 assists while John Klingberg and Joe Pavelski each have 12 points with Klingberg logging 10 assists while Pavelski has 8 goals and 4 assists. Alexander Radulov has 7 goals with 4 assists for his 11 points and Roope Hintz rounds out the double-digit point getters with 10 points including 8 assists. Anton Khudobin’s seen the bulk of the work in goal for the Stars, posting an 8-5 record with a .909 save percentage and a 2.94 GAA through 13 starts and 14 appearances this playoffs.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build off of their seven-game series victory over a young and game Vancouver team in the last round of the postseason. Shea Theodore leads the Golden Knights with 16 points as well as the lone double-digit assist man on the team with 6 goals and a team-high 10 assists this year while Mark Stone is right behind with 6 goals and 9 assists for his 15 points. Reilly Smith has 13 points with 9 assists while Alex Tuch has a team-high 8 goals with 10 assists this season. Robin Lehner’s seen the bulk of the workload in goal for the Golden Knights, posting an 8-4 record with a .918 save percentage and 1.99 GAA while Marc-Andre Fleury is waiting to get back in goal with a 3-0 record with an .893 save percentage and a 2.67 GAA this postseason.
Dallas is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 games against teams from the Pacific division while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games overall. Vegas is 22-6 in their last 28 games overall and 20-7 in their last 27 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 playoff games as a favorite. Dallas is 1-6 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
The total was all over the place between these two in the regular season as a couple of games went over, a couple went under, there was a push, you name it. With that said, the Stars were really clicking offensively in that series and the goaltending for Vegas has been a little bit shaky at the moment but the Golden Knights can light the lamp in their own right so I’ll take the over as my free play for this game, but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
