The Vegas Golden Knights and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in game four of their best-of-seven Western Conference playoff series in NHL action from Rogers Place on Sunday evening.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to complete the sweep of the Blackhawks after defeating Chicago by a final count of 2-1 on Saturday to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
William Karlsson got Vegas on the board short-handed just over four minutes into the game and the lead held until Patrick Brown doubled Vegas’ lead with just under five minutes to go in the second period. Olli Maatta would get a goal back for Chicago just over six minutes into the third and as hard as Chicago tried to find a tying goal, outshooting Vegas 11-8 in the 3rd period, the tying goal never came as Vegas held on for the win.
Marc-Andre Fleury got the win in goal after stopping 26 of 27 shots for Vegas in the win while Corey Crawford took the loss between the pipes for Chicago after allowing two goals on 26 shots faced in defeat.
Vegas is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams while the favorite is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings and the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
I really want to give the Blackhawks a shot here as a team with some proud veterans on it that won’t want to go down in a whimper after such an impressive showing in the opening round. The problem here is the same problem that Chicago has had to deal with all series long, and that’s that Vegas has serious depth in their lineup across all forward lines and three defensive pairings and even in goal as Fleury was able to take the baton from Robin Lehner like he had been starting all series and allowed just one goal. I think Chicago’s time has come as Vegas is just too powerful here so I’ll side with Vegas one the puck line as I see the Golden Knights winning this one 3-1 or 4-1 as Chicago throws everything at the wall and Vegas catches them on the counter.
