The Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche meet Friday in game two of the NHL West First Round at the Rogers Place.
The Arizona Coyotes look for a win here to even up the series at 1-1. The Arizona Coyotes are averaging 2.8 goals per game and are scoring on 14.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Clayton Keller leads Arizona with two goals, Phil Kessel has three assists and Taylor Hall has 11 shots on goal. Defensively, the Arizona Coyotes are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 68.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Darcy Kuemper has given up 14 goals on 203 shots faced.
The Colorado Avalanche have a chance for another victory to take a solid 2-0 series lead. The Colorado Avalanche are averaging three goals per game and are scoring on 27.8 percent of their power play opportunities. Joonas Donskoi leads Colorado with two goals, Mikko Rantanen has four assists and Name Kadri has 21 shots on goal. Defensively, the Colorado Avalanche are allowing 1.25 goals per game and are killing 83.3 percent of their opponents power plays. Philipp Grubauer has allowed five goals on 72 shots faced and Pavel Francouz has allowed zero goals on 27 shots.
The Coyotes are 9-19 in their last 28 Conference Quarterfinals games, 5-11 in their last 16 vs. Western Conference and 1-4 in their last 5 Friday games. The Avalanche are 5-0 in their last 5 Conference Quarterfinals games, 5-1 in their last 6 playoff games as a favorite and 20-8 in their last 28 overall. The under is 18-5 in Avalanche last 23 overall. The Coyotes are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Colorado and 2-5 in the last 7 meetings.
As I've mentioned before, the Arizona Coyotes are a hard team to get behind as right when you're ready to believe in them, they fall flat on their face. That's pretty much what happened in game one of this series where the Coyotes were shutout and had just 14 shots on goal. The Colorado Avalanche have picked up right where they left off in the regular season, and they've been one of the more trustworthy teams in the league over their last 30 games. Give me the Avs and the PL for added value.
