The Vancouver Canucks and the Minnesota Wild meet in game four of their best-of-five qualifying round series in NHL action from Rogers Place on Friday night.
The Vancouver Canucks will look to win the series after going up 2-1 in the set following a 3-0 win over the Wild in game three last time out. The first period saw no scoring but Brock Boeser would give Vancouver the lead with the opening goal on the power play with just over six minutes to go in the middle frame. Antoine Roussel pushed the Canucks lead to 2-0 just over two minutes into the third period and Elias Pettersson would ice the Canucks’ victory with a power play marker with just over a minute to go to secure the win and keep the shutout in tact.
Jacob Markstrom got the win in goal, stopping all 27 shots he faced for Vancouver in the winning effort while Alex Stalock ended up with the loss for Minnesota after allowing all 3 goals on 29 shots faced in the losing effort.
Vancouver is 2-6 in their last 8 games overall and 2-5 in their last 7 games playing on no rest while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Minnesota is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall and 6-13 in their last 19 games playing on no rest while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 playoff games as a favorite. Vancouver is 2-5 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Vancouver’s really looked good in the last couple of games, but we’ve yet to see the Canucks in a high-pressure, series-clinching game like they’re in here with an opportunity to send Minnesota home. The Wild are up against it here, but Minnesota has a ton of veterans and have a lot of experience in situations where you have to claw back and take it one game at a time. I just think this is going to be a battle and I see this series going to the all-deciding game five. I’ll lay the juice with Minnesota in this one.
