The Anaheim Ducks and the Vegas Golden Knights meet in a Pacific division matchup in NHL action from the T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday afternoon.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to bounce back after a 2-1 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers in their last outing. Erik Gudbranson opened the scoring for the Ducks just :35 into the game before Philadelphia tied the game at one just before the midway point of the 1st period. The two sides would trade chances over the remaining two periods, but the game needed OT to find a winner, and we almost looked headed for a shootout before Philadelphia potted the game winner with just over a minute to go in the extra period. John Gibson ended up with the loss, falling to 12-14-3 on the year after allowing both goals on 35 shots faced in the losing effort.
The Vegas Golden Knights will be looking to build on a 4-1 win over Arizona in their last outing. Mark Stone opened the scoring for the Golden Knights just before the midway point of the opening period before Arizona tied the game at one just 4:26 later. Stone helped Vegas re-take the lead with his 2nd goal of the game just 1:35 after that and Vegas carried the 2-1 lead into the 2nd where Chandler Stephenson made it 3-1 :12 into the middle period and Paul Stastny added a 4th just 1:42 after that. Vegas would ride that 4-1 lead all the way to the final horn as Arizona just didn’t have an answer for Vegas in the end. Marc-Andre Fluery got the win to improve to 15-8-3 on the year after stopping 27 of 28 shots faced in the winning effort.
Anaheim is 2-8 in their last 10 road games and 7-17 in their last 24 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 division games. Vegas is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 6-0 in their last 6 Tuesday games while the under is 18-8-1 in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record. Anaheim is 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Vegas.
The plus money is worth a look as Anaheim already has a win over Vegas from just a couple of days ago, but that game was at home and the Ducks are a far different team on the road, dropping 8 of their last 10 games. Even with the win, the Ducks are a hard team to get behind as they just have a hard time stringing wins together and consistent performances. Vegas hasn’t been as dominant at home this year, but I think the Golden Knights can do enough to stifle the Ducks here, so I’ll side with Vegas on the puck line to get the heavy price down.
