The New Jersey Devils and Arizona Coyotes meet Saturday in NHL action at the Gila River Arena.
The New Jersey Devils need a win to snap a seven-game losing streak. The New Jersey Devils are averaging 2.5 goals per game and are scoring on 14 percent of their power play opportunities. Kyle Palmieri leads New Jersey with 11 goals, Taylor Hall has 19 assists and Blake Coleman has 71 shots on goal. Defensively, the New Jersey Devils are allowing 3.6 goals per game and are killing 77.1 percent of their opponents power plays. Cory Schneider has given up 26 goals on 176 shots faced and Mackenzie Blackwood has allowed 63 goals on 641 shots. The New Jersey Devils have allowed three or more goals in seven of their last nine games.
The Arizona Coyotes look for a win after splitting their last 12 games. The Arizona Coyotes are averaging 2.6 goals per game and are scoring on 21.2 percent of their power play opportunities. Conor Garland leads Arizona with 12 goals, Nick Schmaltz has 17 assists and Oliver Ekman-Larsson has 68 shots on goal. Defensively, the Arizona Coyotes are allowing 2.4 goals per game and are killing 80.6 percent of their opponents power plays. Darcy Kuemper has given up 44 goals on 679 shots faced and Antti Raanta has allowed 33 goals on 409 shots. The Arizona Coyotes have allowed three or less goals in seven of their last nine games.
The Devils are 7-15 in their last 22 games playing on 0 days rest, 16-43 in their last 59 road games and 16-35 in their last 51 overall. The Coyotes are 6-2 in their last 8 games playing on 1 days rest and 26-54 in their last 80 vs. Metropolitan. The over is 3-0-1 in Devils last 4 games playing on 0 days rest. The over is 5-2 in Coyotes last 7 overall. The Devils are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. The home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings. The under is 3-1-2 in the last 6 meetings in Arizona.
The New Jersey Devils continue to pile up the losses and it's hard to see them put together a winning effort on the end of a back to back. The Arizona Coyotes have had trouble with consistency, but they're playing decent hockey overall these last few weeks and are going to start winning some games with the defensive effort remaining consistent. The New Jersey Devils are just falling apart right now and aren't a team I'm looking to get behind, especially on the road. I'll take the Coyotes at home and whatever the price ends up being.
