The New York Rangers and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Saturday afternoon.
The New York Rangers come into this game looking to finish their road trip strong after a 6-3 win over San Jose last time out. San Jose opened the scoring with the lone goal of the opening period before Jesper Fast and Artemi Panarin scored 2:54 apart to jump ahead 2-1. The Sharks would tie the game at two just after the midway point of the 2nd before taking a lead in the 3rd period. Mika Zibanejad scored a pair of goals 4:21 apart to give the Rangers a 4-3 lead and Panarin would add a pair of goals :47 apart to complete his hat trick to secure the 6-3 win voer New York. Alexandar Georgiev got the win to improve to 9-5-1 on the year after stopping 15 of 18 shots faced in the winning effort.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in their last outing. Los Angeles opened the scoring with the lone goal of the opening period and doubled their last in the 2nd before Derek Grant finally got the Ducks on the board on the power play in the 3rd period, but despite the Ducks outshooting the Kings 17-7 in the 3rd, Anaheim wouldn’t find an equalizer. John Gibson took the loss, falling to 9-13-2 on the year after giving up both goals on 27 shots faced in the losing effort.
New York is 4-1 in their last 5 road games and 6-2 in their last 7 Saturday games while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games following a win. Anaheim is 4-13 in their last 17 games overall and 2-8 in their last 10 home games while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games against the Eastern Conference. New York is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
Just when I think the Ducks can actually get a confidence win, Anaheim goes out and loses to an L.A. team that stinks on the road and just snapped an 11-game road losing streak. The Rangers continue to play solid hockey and I just think there’s too much value to pass on here, especially when you consider their success in this matchup, so I’ll side with the Rangers at plus money here.
