The Dallas Stars look to stay red hot as they travel to Edmonton to face off against an Oilers side who currently sits atop the Pacific division.
The Stars are one of the league’s best teams at the moment as they have gone on an absolute tear over the last couple of weeks and will look to send the Oilers to just their 3rd home defeat of the season. Dallas is 8-1-1 in their last 10 contests and have completely reversed their early season woes and are back on track in the playoff picture in the Western Conference and face off against the Oilers who are coming off a thrashing at home against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. Dallas is 6-1 in their last 7 games and are 4-1 in their last 5 road games but will be in tough against the Oilers who have looked like a totally different team this season thanks in large part to the fast start from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Ben Bishop is expected to get the start as he will face off against Mike Smith.
The Oilers head into Saturday night’s contest with a 13-6-2 mark through their first 21 games and have looked like a playoff contender in the process and while we have seen a quick start from the Oilers in the past only to amount to very little this looks like a very different team. Edmonton went under another overhaul in the offseason when they brought in Ken Holland as the General Manager, Dave Tippett as head coach, and traded for dynamic play making winger James Neal who has looked completely invigorated since the move to the City of Champions. Edmonton also signed Mike Smith and he and Mikko Koskinen have done a nice job backstopping the Oilers to this fast start which they will look to maintain on Saturday.
The Stars are 2-5 in their last 7 trips to Edmonton and the favorite is 29-11 in their last 40 meetings while the Oilers are 6-2 in their last 8 as a home favorite and 2-12 in their last 14 against the Central. Dallas is steamrolling teams right now and while Edmonton is playing well expect the Stars to get a win here with a bit more offensive depth.
