The Minnesota Wild and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Tuesday night.
The Minnesota Wild will be out to snap a three game losing streak after a 4-3 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues in their last outing. Marcus Foligno opened the scoring for Minnesota but St. Louis would tie the game just 1:34 later and take the lead with just over five minutes to go in the opening frame. Kevin Fiala would tie the game just over a minute into the 2nd period for the Wild before Mats Zuccarello gave Minnesota a 3-2 lead on the power play just 3:38 later. St. Louis would tie the game early in the 3rd with the lone goal of the period, sending us to overtime where the Blues found the winner midway through the extra session. Devan Dubnyk ended up with the loss, falling to 2-6-1 on the year after allowing all 4 goals on 29 shots faced in the defeat.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound after a 3-2 overtime loss to Chicago in their last outing. Chicago jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play before Erik Gudbranson got the Ducks on the board with the lone goal of the middle period. Nick Ritchie tied the game at two for Anaheim on the power play, but no winner would be found in regular time so it was off to overtime where Chicago found the winning goal just :24 into overtime. Ryan Miller took the loss, falling to 3-0-1 on the year after allowing all 3 goals on 37 shots faced in the loss.
Minnesota is 1-10 in their last 11 road games and 2-8 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 20-2-4 in their last 26 games against the Pacific division. Anaheim is 9-2 in their last 11 home games and 6-2 in their last 8 games as a home favorite while the under is 17-5 in their last 22 Tuesday games. Minnesota is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Anaheim has had their ups and downs, but it’s no secret that the Ducks have been a far superior team at home compared to what they are on the road. Minnesota on the other hand, has been absolutely horrendous on the road so far this season, and right now, it doesn’t matter, home or away, the losses just keep piling up for Minnesota. All things considered, this price is a gift to fade Minnesota on the road, so I’ll take it and lay the juice with Anaheim at home in this one.
Chris’s Pick Anaheim -135
