The Carolina Hurricanes look for their second win in as many nights as they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday who dropped a home shootout loss to the Flyers last night.
The Devils have stumbled out of the gates so far this season as they are 2-5-4 in their last 11 contests and sit second to last in the Eastern Conference as they could be in for a long season if they can’t find a groove offensively. New Jersey currently sits 3rd to last in total goals scored so far this season and against a Hurricanes side on Saturday who has netted 16 more times than them they will need to find a spark in a hurry or clamp down defensively if they want a shot at winning this one. New Jersey is winless on the road so far this season and are a measly 15-36 in their last 51 games against the Metro which is a huge reason why they weren’t a playoff contender a season ago and may not be again this year.
The Canes meanwhile have become a trendy pick in the Eastern Conference as they have developed into a pretty deep team and have found ways to win big games over the last season plus. Carolina seems to have a great team morale that is on display during their patented Storm Surge celebrations following a home ice win and the fans in Raleigh are hoping to see another one on Saturday after a strong effort against the Devils. Carolina is 20-6 in their last 26 as a home favorite and 10-3 in their last 13 games which should put them in good shape here against a Devils side who seems to have something missing.
The Devils are 6-14 in their last 20 Saturday games and 13-39 in their last 52 road games while the Canes are 26-9 in their last 35 home games and 11-3 in the back end of a double header. The Devils do not match up well here and while the price isn’t great look for the Canes to get a big win here.
