The Arizona Coyotes look to shake off a loss on Long Island last night as they continue their road trip on Friday in New Jersey against the Devils.
The Coyotes dropped a 4-2 decision against the Islanders last night and don’t have any time to dwell on their shortcomings as they are back in action on Friday night against the Devils who have looked woeful to start the season. Arizona was a trendy pick in the preseason to make a return to the playoffs after they made a move to acquire Phil Kessel to go along with a strong finish to last year’s regular season and so far they have looked the part as they are holding into the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. Anttii Raanta is expected to get the call here as he will face off against Corey Schneider who has split time so far in the New Jersey crease with youngster Mackenzie Blackwood.
The Devils meanwhile made a splash of their own in the offseason after they acquired PK Subban from the Nashville Predators to shore up their blue line but so far they haven’t looked great and are hoping a home date against the Coyotes will be the answer to their faults. New Jersey is coming off a shutout win over the Canucks but that isn’t exactly anything to write home about and with a 2-4-2 mark through their first 8 contests it is shocking to see them favored against anybody right now.
The Coyotes are 3-7 in their last 10 road games and 2-6 in their last 8 as a road underdog while the Devils are 4-1 in their last 5 against the Pacific and 5-11 in their last 16 against the Western Conference. Arizona is a sneaky good team right now and while they lost last night look for them to bounce back and get the win here at a nice price.
