In this article we will formulate a Panthers vs Jaguars prediction for this NFL game on Friday, August 21st at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this preseason matchup.

Carolina Panthers Betting Preview

The Carolina Panthers are 1-1 this preseason after they lost to the Bills by a score of 29-14 in their last game. Carolina trailed 13-7 at halftime and they were shutout for most of the second half, but they scored with 20 seconds left in the fourth. The Panthers were out gained by a total of 396-201, went 3-11 on third downs, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 1-0 in the game. Kenny Pickett threw for 92 yards and one touchdown, while Kyle Trask threw for 53 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Anthony Tyus III rushed four times for 28 yards, while AJ Dillon caught two passes for 29 yards in the loss.

Carolina opened the preseason with a 33-30 win over the Cardinals in the Hall of Fame game. Last year, Carolina went 0-3 in the preseason, losing to the Browns 30-10, the Texans 20-3, and Steelers 19-10. The Panthers will play their starters for at least a few drives in this game, so Bryce Young will start the game at quarterback, followed by Pickett and Trask.

Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 1-0 this preseason after they defeated the Saints by a score of 24-20 last week. Jacksonville trailed 20-6 at halftime, but they outscored the Saints 18-0 in the second half for the comeback win. The Jaguars were out gained by a total of 277-275, went 5-15 on third downs, and lost the turnover battle by a total of 2-1 in the game. Carter Bradley threw for 105 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, while Nick Mullens threw for 33 yards and one interception. J’Mari Taylor rushed 22 times for 78 yards and one score, while Trebor Pena caught three passes for 58 yards in the win.

Last year, Jacksonville went 0-2-1 in the preseason, which was last in the AFC South. The Jaguars lost to the Steelers by a score of 31-25, tied the Saints 17-17, and lost to the Dolphins 14-6 in their three preseason games. Jacksonville will also play their starters for a few drives, so Trevor Lawrence will start at QB, followed by Mullens, Bradley, and Aguilar.

Panthers vs Jaguars Prediction

Jacksonville was able to overcome a sloppy first half against the Saints in their game last week and they got a stop on the two yard line as time expired to secure the win. The Jaguars have a decent QB rotation, as Carter Bradley looked very good last week. Carolina was blown out by Buffalo in their last game and I wasn’t impressed with Pickett or Trask at the quarterback spot. Take the Jaguars to win here.
