Seattle Seahawks Betting Preview

The Seahawks managed to post a pretty solid 7-3 run over their first 10 games of the season. Seattle would only fall to only the 49ers, Buccaneers and Rams during that stretch. Seattle finished off the regular season on a good stretch, dispatching the Titans, Vikings, Falcons, Colts, Rams, Panthers and 49ers. Over the 17 games of the regular season that would give Seattle a 14-3 record in the books. The Seahawks were able to take out the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs in dominant fashion 41-6.

In the Conference Championship game versus the Los Angeles Rams back on January 25, the Seahawks were clinging to a slim 17-13 lead by the break. Seattle traded a couple of touchdowns with LA in the third quarter, then held on through a scoreless final frame on the way to a 31-27 victory in the end. QB Sam Darnold put up 346 yards with three scores on 25-of-36 passing, and Kenneth Walker added 19 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown. Tops in receiving was Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 10 grabs for 153 yards and a TD of his own.

New England Patriots Betting Preview

Over on the Patriots’ side, they kicked off their campaign with disappointing defeats in two of their first three outings against the Raiders and Steelers. After that New England posted only one loss (versus Buffalo on December 14). Outside of that it was wins over the Panthers, Bills, Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons, Buccaneers, Jets, Bengals, Giants, Ravens, Jets and Dolphins in succession. That would give the Patriots a similar 14-3 overall record in the regular season. New England kept it going in the playoffs with wins over the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3 in the Wild Card Round and over the Houston Texans 28-16 in the Divisional Round.

Matched up against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game on January 25, the Patriots were locked in a defensive battle. New England went into the break all tied up 7-7, then added a field goal in the third. That score would hold in the end, as the Patriots powered out a 10-7 victory to move on. QB Drake Maye finished 10-of-21 for 86 yards (and a rush score) while Rhamondre Stevenson put up 71 yards off 25 carries. Mack Hollins caught two balls for 51 yards as the team’s lead receiver.

Seahawks vs Patriots Super Bowl Prediction

I’ll stick with the Patriots. That said, this is a very interesting matchup and the game could break a lot of different ways. New England fought through some significant adversity in the AFC Championship against a plucky Broncos team, surviving a tough battle with the elements and the road environment. The Pats held Denver to just 181 total yards with 102 pass yards, 3.1 yards per play, 11 first downs and 4-of-14 on third-down tries—not to mention bagging a couple of takeaways. The offense did just enough to win on the other side, generating 206 yards, 65 pass yards, 12 first downs and 6-of-18 on third-down attempts. More importantly the O held on to the ball (zero turnovers) and the team committed just one penalty the whole way. New England should be back to business in the comparatively fair weather of Santa Clara; they’ll be able to take advantage of their 28.8 points-per-game average in the regular season. I like a 30-plus performance on points from the Patriots in this one if all goes well.

As for the Seahawks, they relied on the pass (321 yards) to beat the Rams in the NFC Championship. Seattle added 6.1 yards per play with 24 first downs, 7-of-13 on third-down tries and no turnovers. The defense gave up 479 total yards on the other side but made up for it by holding LA to just 1-of-8 on third downs. That unit will be a key component of a potential Seahawks Super Bowl victory. Seattle held opponents to just 17.2 points per game in the regular season while generating 18 interceptions along the way. If the Seahawks can keep the score relatively low, they should win. Regardless, it’ll be a fun matchup to watch.
