Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles went into their bye week with a 6-2 overall record, losing to only the Broncos and Giants in that time. Otherwise it was wins over the Cowboys, Chiefs, Chargers, Bucs, Vikings and Giants. After wins versus Green Bay and Detroit over the next pair, the Eagles lost to the Cowboys, Bears and Chargers in the ensuing three games. Over the first 13 outings of the year that gave the Eagles an 8-5 record.

In the Las Vegas game on Sunday the Eagles scored points in every quarter on the way to a dominant 31-0 shutout blowout win. Jalen Hurts finished with 175 yards and three scores off 12-of-15 passing. Saquon Barkley added 22 carries for 78 yards and a TD while Dallas Goedert had six catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns in the big victory for the Eagles.

Washington Commanders Betting Preview

Over on the Washington side, they opened the year at 3-2 with wins over the Giants, Raiders and Chargers mixed among losses to the Packers and Falcons. The Commanders hit a losing streak heading into the bye versus the Bears, Cowboys, Chiefs, Seahawks, Lions and Dolphins. The next pair were losses to Denver and Minnesota, giving the Commanders a 3-10 record across 13 games this year.

Matched up against the Giants last weekend the Commanders scored 19 points in the second quarter alone, eventually powering out a 29-21 win in the end. Washington got 10-of-19 for 211 yards and a TD from Marcus Mariota and Jacory Croskey-Merritt had 18 carries for 96 yards and a score. Terry McLaurin added 69 yards and a score off three catches as the team’s lead receiver.

Eagles vs Commanders Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Washington but you could easily argue this one the other way as well. The Commanders weren’t spectacular against a flailing Giants team last weekend thanks to 11 total penalties, two lost fumbles and 3-of-11 on third downs by the offense. The defense gave up 384 yards on the other side but also held New York to just 2-of-12 on third downs. The victory broke a miserable eight-game losing streak and marked Washington’s highest points total (29) since posting 41 in a win over Las Vegas on September 21.
As for the Eagles, they made short work of the aforementioned Raiders in their last game. Philly piled on 387 total yards, 27 first downs and a stellar 10-of-13 on third-down tries. The Eagles gave up just 75 yards on the other side with 1.8 yards per play and just seven first downs. Washington will really need a big push on offense if they want to get into cover territory.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Washington Commanders +6.5
