New York Jets Betting Preview

The Jets lost their first seven games of the year, falling versus the Steelers, Bills, Bucs, Dolphins, Cowboys, Broncos and Panthers before a win versus the Bengals. Following the bye week New York went 2-3 in the next five with wins over the Browns and Falcons. The losses otherwise were versus the Patriots, Ravens and Dolphins, giving the Jets a 3-10 overall record in their first 13 outings.

In the matchup with the Jaguars on Sunday the Jets managed to score points in every quarter. Unfortunately New York also gave up points in every quarter during a 48-20 loss. QB Brady Cook had 176 yards, one TD and three picks on 22-of-33 passing and Isaiah Davis had nine carries for 58 yards and a score. Adonai Mitchell caught six balls for 58 yards and a TD in the defeat as well.

New Orleans Saints Betting Preview

Over on the Saints’ side, they opened the year on a 2-8 clip with wins over only the Giants and Panthers. New Orleans otherwise lost versus the Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks, Bills, Patriots, Bears, Bucs and Rams in that stretch. After the bye week New Orleans lost to the Falcons and Dolphins before bagging another victory versus the Buccaneers. Through 13 games New Orleans had a 3-10 overall record as well.

Matched up against the Panthers last weekend the Saints were down 17-10 going into the final quarter. New Orleans hung up 10 unanswered points though, and took the comeback win 20-17 in the end. QB Tyler Shough had 272 yards and a TD on 24-of-32 passing and also led the rush with 32 yards form eight carries. Tops in receiving during the winning effort for New Orleans was Chris Olave with six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Jets vs Saints Prediction

I’ll stick with the Saints. New Orleans utilized a big fourth quarter to bag a comeback win over the Panthers last weekend, notching 337 yards, 5.3 yards per play and 27 first downs along the way. The defense gave up 281 yards and 15 first downs on the other side, though the Saints did commit nine of the game’s 20 total penalties overall. New Orleans now has consecutive wins in the bag, and each of their last three games has been decided by four points or fewer.

As for the Jets, they limped to another rough showing in their loss to the Jags, thanks to three picks and 154 passing yards by the offense. The defense gave up 438 yards on the other side along with 24 first downs and 7.4 yards per play. New York’s offense has 20 points or fewer in each of their last six losses, and I don’t see them scoring too well here either.

Andrew Jett's Pick: New Orleans Saints -4.5
