New York Jets Betting Preview

The Jets got off to a good start this year, taking out the Tennessee Titans 23-10 in their opener on the road. New York would fall to the Green Bay Packers in overtime 20-17 during week two however. Following that were two more losses in the same division versus the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears. The Jets had a 1-3 record in their first four outings.

In the Browns game last weekend the Jets managed to put up a touchdown in the first quarter but stayed silent on the scoreboard until the fourth. New York added a field goal and another TD in that frame on the way to a 17-12 win. QB Geno Smith was 17-of-30 for 182 yards and one TD. Braelon Allen rushed 24 times for 116 yards and a touchdown as well.

New England Patriots Betting Preview

Over on the Pats’ side, they’ve been on shaky ground in the early-going this year. New England started with a 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, then beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-3. Game three was another loss, this time 35-6 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Next came a 29-26 win on the road versus Buffalo for a 2-2 run across the first quartet.

Matched up against Las Vegas last weekend the Pats were able to keep it going. After three first-half touchdowns New England held a 21-7 lead by the break. The second half was even better for the Patriots, and they powered out a 45-17 win in the end. QB Drake Maye was 26-of-34 for 374 yards and four scores. Kyle Williams led the receivers with 91 yards and a TD off three grabs.

Jets vs Patriots Prediction

I’ll go with the Pats. New England looked good against the Raiders last weekend, eventually bagging 29 first downs, 536 total yards and 6-of-12 on third-down tries. The Patriots defense gave up just 16 first downs with 5-of-13 on third-down conversions. After a tight loss to the Seahawks and a blowout loss to Jacksonville in the first three weeks, New England is starting to look like a playoff team again with these latest two wins.

As for the Jets, they pulled off a somewhat ugly win last weekend thanks mostly to defense and 134 rush yards. New York held the Browns to just 13 first downs, 198 total yards and 4-of-16 on third-down tries but managed just 14 first downs themselves. The Jets aren’t scoring well this year so far; they’ve been at 17 points or fewer in three of the last four games (a 1-3 run).

Andrew Jett's Pick: New England Patriots -7.5
