New Orleans Saints Betting Preview

It’s been a rough year for the Saints so far. New Orleans lost their first four games versus the Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks and Bills, then took a win over the Giants. Next came four more losses to the Patriots, Bears, Buccaneers and Rams before another win versus the Panthers. Heading into the bye, New Orleans had a 2-8 record across their first 10 outings of the season.

In Sunday’s matchup with the Falcons, the Saints were down 16-7 heading into the final frame. After an 8-3 run from there New Orleans had a loss 24-10. QB Tyler Shough had a 30-of-43 line for 243 yards and an interception while also leading the rush on seven carries for just 22 yards. Chris Olave caught nine balls for 70 yards as the team’s leading receiver in the loss.

Miami Dolphins Betting Preview

Over on the Miami side, they’ve had some struggles this year as well, but to their credit the team has been better lately. The Dolphins lost to the Colts, Patriots, Bills, Panthers, Chargers and Browns (with a lone win over the lowly Jets) in their first seven games. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run though, with a loss to the Ravens mixed among wins over the Falcons, Bills and Commanders. So far that makes a 4-7 record through 11 games for the Phins.

Back on November 16 in their last outing versus Washington, the Dolphins scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to force overtime. Following a field goal, Miami had a 16-13 win in the end. QB Tua Tagovailoa was 14-of-20 for 171 yards, and De’Von Achane carried 21 times for 120 yards. Jaylen Waddle added three catches for 52 yards as the team’s leading receiver in the victory effort.

Saints vs Dolphins Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Dolphins but I’m probably not touching this one. There’s not much to get excited about. That said, Miami pulled off a gutsy win in their last outing—even though it was against a struggling Commanders squad. In that matchup the Dolphins posted 311 yards with 19 first downs and went just 3-of-9 on third-down tries. The defense came up with a couple takeaways and allowed 379 yards with 22 first downs. During this current 3-1 stretch, the Dolphins have scored 30 or more points in two of the wins.

As for New Orleans, they’re coming off a pretty listless loss to the Falcons. The Saints had a couple of turnovers in that one with just 3.8 yards per play and 5-of-16 on third-down tries. New Orleans’ defense didn’t do too badly though, giving up just 13 first downs and 3-of-12 on third downs. Still, the Saints haven’t reached 20 points for six straight games (a 1-5 run) so I’m not jazzed about their chances here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Miami Dolphins -6
