The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears face off on Sunday in an NFL showdown at Soldier Field. Let’s look at the betting matchup and give a free Lions vs Bears prediction.
Lions Have Been Tested Last Couple of Weeks
The Lions have been tested the last couple of weeks but they have still come away with wins. Two games ago against the Green Bay Packers, they won 29-22 and in the last game against the New Orleans Saints they won 33-28. They almost blew the last game against the Saints, but just held on for the victory. The Lions overall are averaging 27.3 points while their defense is giving up 23.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 6th but the defense at times has been a major issue and is going to need to be cleaned up soon. Center Frank Ragnow is dealing with a leg injury and is questionable for this game.
Lions Betting Trends
- The Lions have won seven of their last eight Sunday road games.
- The Lions have covered the spread in each of their last five road games against NFC North opponents.
- The favorites have won the first half in 13 of the Lions' last 14 games.
- The Lions have lost the first quarter in each of their last two games as favorites following a win.
- The Lions have scored the first touchdown in each of their last four road games against NFC opponents.
Bears Coming Off Bye Week
The Bears should be plenty rested heading into this game after having a bye last week. Two weeks ago against the Minnesota Vikings they only hit four field goals, but that was rough for the two point victory. Justin Fields threw for 127 yards and he also rushed for another 59 yards. They did create four turnovers on Joshua Dobbs and they are going to need to create the turnovers again in this game. The Bears on the season are averaging 20.2 points while their defense is giving up 24.7 points per game. D’Onta Foreman is dealing with an ankle injury but it’s expected that he’s going to be able to go in this game.
Bears betting Trends
- The Bears have lost each of their last 14 Sunday games against teams that held a winning record.
- The Bears have failed to cover the spread in each of their last seven home games against NFC North opponents.
- The Bears have lost the first half in each of their last eight games as underdogs following a road win.
- The underdogs have won the first quarter in three of the last four games between the Lions and Bears.
- The Bears have scored the first touchdown in four of their last five Week 14 games.
Lions vs Bears Betting Prediction
The Bears won the last game but the offense couldn’t find the end zone and I have some major concerns for that team heading into this game. The Lions scored 33 points in the last game and against the Bears defense they are going to have no issue here. Jared Goff is going to have another game and that is going to be the difference here as the Lions are going to get the job done here. The Lions know they need to make a statement and it wouldn’t shock me if they win this game by three touchdowns. Back the Lions against the spread.
