Washington Commanders Preview
Washington fell to 2-3 after losing to Chicago in DC by twenty, 40-20. The Commanders came out flat, and the Bears would make them pay by snapping a 14-game losing streak. The Washington offense is scoring 21.8 ppg, while passing for 269.8 ypg, rushing for 91.0 ypg, and converting 36.7% of their third downs.
Commanders Player Props
• Sam Howell padded the stat sheet in a comeback effort last week, passing for a career-high 388 yards, with two touchdowns to a pick. The former UNC QB wasn't able to match the Bears’ energy on a short week, and he’ll look to respond here against Atlanta. Howell has passed for 1,349 yards with six touchdowns to six interceptions thru five starts.
• Brian Robinson flopped in a prime spot last week against the Bears, but he still leads the Commanders with 271 yards on 67 carries.
• Terry McLaurin also had a quiet nite versus Chicago last week, but he still leads Washington in receptions (25) and receiving yards (261).
• Fellow former OSU wideout Curtis Samuel reached the 50-yard mark for the fourth time in the five games last week, and he’s posting splits of 23/243/1.
• The Washington defense has allowed 32.0 ppg.
Atlanta Falcons Preview
Atlanta moved to 3-2 after defeating Houston at home by two, 21-19. The Falcons got back into the win column in return to the Dome with a productive fourth quarter, and they’ll look to move to 4-0 at home this Sunday. The Atlanta offense is scoring 16.6 ppg, while passing for 219.0 ypg, rushing for 121.6 ypg, and converting 38.5% of their third downs.
Falcons Player Props
• Desmond Ridder played big against Houston, coming through with a career-high 329 yards, and a pair of touchdowns. The former 3rd round pick responded to the heat last week with his best career start, and he’ll look to build on that performance this weekend. Ridder has passed for 1,073 yards, with four touchdowns to three interceptions thru five games.
• Bijan Robinson provided another highlight reel with a 6-yard TD catch last weekend, and he leads the Falcons in rushing with 364 yards on 67 carries.
• Drake London and Kyle Pitts turned in their best performances last week, but it’s journeyman tight end Jonnu Smith who leads the team with 21 catches for 246 receiving yards.
• The Atlanta defense is allowing 19.2 points per game.
Washington vs Atlanta Trends
• WAS is 2-3 against the spread, with a 3-2 O/U record.
• ATL is 1-4 ATS, with a 1-4 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
Desmond Ridder showed what he could do last weekend if Arthur Smith takes him off of the leash, and when you factor in how poor Washington has been defensively, this could wind up being a good spot for the Falcons at home. The Commanders have allowed 33 points or more in four straight contest, so while that does leave the door open for the Over, Atlanta’s weapons come in a good position to thrive. The Bijan/Brian Robinson parlay will be fun here, but let’s back the Falcons the remain undefeated at home this Sunday.
