The Las Vegas Raiders will play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3 of the NFL preseason on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Raiders come into this game undefeated through two weeks, while Dallas is still searching for their first win.
The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-0 in the preseason after they defeated the LA Rams by a score of 34-17 last weekend. The Raiders offense has been on fire to start the season, scoring 34 points in each of their first two games. Las Vegas led 20-10 at the half and they were able to coast to the victory in the second half. The Raiders got touchdowns from Brandon Bolden (seven yard run), Isaiah Pola-Mao (50 yard interception return), Cam Sims (12 yard pass from O’Connell), and Kristian Wilkerson (two yard pass from O’Connell). Las Vegas also added two field goals from Daniel Carlson (46 yards and 30 yards). The Raiders out gained the Rams by a total of 440-224 and forced one turnover in the win. Las Vegas went 7-13 on third down attempts and 0-1 on fourth down. Jimmy Garoppolo got very limited action in this game, while Brian Hoyer and Aidan O’Connell got the majority of work. O’Connell was the better of the two quarterbacks with 163 passing yards and two scores. Las Vegas defeated the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 34-7 in their first game.
The Dallas Cowboys are 0-2 this preseason after they lost to the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 22-14 in their last game. Dallas wasn’t able to do much offensively and was out scored by a total of 19-7 to close out the game. The Cowboys got touchdowns from Rico Dowdle (six yard pass from Rush) and Deuce Vaughn (14 yard touchdown run). Dallas was out gained by a total of 358-293 and turned the ball over once in the game. The Cowboys went 6-13 on third down attempts and 1-2 on fourth downs in the loss. Will Grier and Cooper Rush took care of the quarterback duties in this game, with Will Grier going 13/18 for 136 yards and an interception and Cooper Rush going 9/14 for 96 yards and a score. Rico Dowdle led the rushing attack with 38 yards and eight carries. Dallas lost their first preseason game by a score of 28-23 at home to Jacksonville.
Dallas comes into this game trying to avoid going 0-3 in the preseason, but they are not expected to play many of their starters in this game, as they would prefer not risking injury. On the other side, the Raiders sound like they are also going to rest most of the starters, which means we should see plenty of the backups in this matchup. The Raiders have been great in their first two games of the preseason and I have really liked what I have seen from Aidan O’Connell. Dallas has also had some solid QB play from Rush and Grier, but that Cowboys defense has allowed 50 points in two games. I do think Dallas will get a much better effort here and I think five points is way too many for a preseason game like this. Take the Cowboys at home.
