The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars face off on Saturday in a Week 3 NFL preseason showdown at TIAA Bank Field.
Jaguars Playing Starters for a Half
The Jaguars are going to play their starters for a half in this game, and they really hope that is what they need to get the offense in a groove for the regular season. The starters didn’t suit up against the Detroit Lions, and this will be the first real chance they have to get in a groove this preseason. In the first preseason game, the Jaguars were able to beat the Dallas Cowboys 28-23 and in the last game against the Lions they secured the 25-7. Even without the starters, the Jaguars offense has been quite impressive. In the last game, C.J Beathard completed 12 of his 20 passes for 136 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Nathan Rourke completed 10 of his 12 passes for 121 yards. Running back Cartavious Bigsby finished with 13 carries for 70 yards.
Tua is Expected to Play
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is expected to start in this game and this is a great last tune-up for him heading into this season. The Dolphins started the season with a 19-3 victory over the Atlanta Falcons but in the last game against the Atlanta Falcons they bounced back and ended up winning 28-3. Skylar Thompson had a strong game finishing with 15 of his 22 passes for 157 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Tagovailoa completed 5 of his 7 passes for 61 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Salvon Ahmed finished with 12 carries for 99 yards. Braxton Berrios finished with three carries for 33 yards and one touchdown.
Shane’s Free Pick
The Jaguars are going to get the job done in this game. The Jaguars offense has been impressive during the preseason, and with Trevor Lawrence expected to play a half, they are going to have no issue running up the score here. The Jaguars are going to score at least 30 points here, and the Dolphins aren’t going to be keeping up. Back the Jaguars to cover the spread.
