The Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs face off on Saturday in a Week 3 NFL preseason showdown at Arrowhead Stadium.
Can Josh Dobbs Win QB 2 Job?
The big question right now for the Browns is who will be the backup behind Deshaun Watson. Dobbs hasn’t played as much this preseason yet because many believe he already had the backup job locked up, but now there seems to be some questions. Last game against the Washington Commanders, Dobbs completed 8 of his 16 passes for 77 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Dorian Thompson-Robinson was quite impressive completing 9 of his 10 passes for 102 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. The Browns are expected to play most of the starters for a couple of drives here, and they are especially going to need a good game from the offense here.
How Much Will the Chiefs Play the Starters?
How much are the Chiefs going to play the starters in this game. Andy Reid has said that the starts may play a little bit in this game, but that type of quote makes it hard to imagine that they are going to play more than one series here. The Chiefs opened up the preseason with a 26-24 loss against the Saints, but they followed that up with a 38-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Patrick Mahomes, Shane Buechle, and Blaine Gabbert all played well. Buechle went 10-10 for 105 yards. Blaine Gabbert also completed 7 of his 8 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Ihmir-Smith Marsette had a strong game catching four passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. In this game for the Chiefs it’s going to come down to the quarterback play.
Shane’s Free Pick
I expect plenty of scoring by both teams here. The backup quarterbacks by both teams have been impressive during the preseason and they are going to continue that success here. Dobbs is expected to play plenty here, and he’s going to find success again here. Look for Buechle to also have another big game here, and that will lead to a ton of points by both teams. Back the over to cash here.
