The Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons face off on Thursday in their last NFL preseason game at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Steelers Look to Cap off A Perfect Preseason
Preseason results don’t really matter but for the Steelers they are looking to go 3-0. In each of the first two preseason games the Steelers have scored 27 points, and they are going to look for good offense again in this game. Mitch Trubsiky, Mason Rudolph, and Kenny Pickett all played in the last game and the Steelers are going to have to decide how many quarterbacks they want to keep up. Trubisky had the best game last game completing 10 the 13 passses he attempted for 78 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Warren had only one carry but it went for 62 yards and a touchdown. Pickett is expected to start again in this game, and he wants to finish the preseason strong showing some consistency.
Can Heinicke Impress Again?
The Falcons have gone into the preseason with Desmond Ridder already being named the starter, but the most impressive quarterback this preseason has been Taylor Heincke. In the last game against the Cincinnati Bengals, he completed 13 of his 21 passes for 162 yards. Godwin Igwebuike also had a strong game running 14 times for 61 yards. In the first preseason game the Falcons were able to beat the Dolphins 19-3 and in the last game against the Bengals, the game ended in a 13-13 draw. It’s unclear if Ridder is going to play here, but if he does, the Falcons need him to be good. This is also going to be a really good test for the Falcons defense as they go against an offense in the Steelers that has had a ton of success so far in the preseason.
Shane’s Free Pick
The Steelers are going to find success here. The Steelers have found a ton of success with the offense so far this season and it’s going to be no difference in this game. Look for Pickett to start off the game to start strong, and the rest of the offense is going to follow suit as they run up the score. This is going to be a game where the Steelers score at least 27 points, and that will be enough. Back the Steelers against the spread.
