The Los Angeles Rams will host the Las Vegas Raiders for preseason action this Saturday from SoFi Stadium.
Raiders Preseason Preview
Las Vegas opened the preseason by defeating their former Bay Area rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, by a massive margin of 34-7. The Raiders scored a touchdown in all four quarters, and they’ll look to come strong here in a return to California. Aidan O’Connell led the charge and looked great in his first taste of NFL action. The former Purdue QB led multiple scoring possessions, while going 15-18 for 141 passing yards, and a touchdown.
Zamir White got the start in the backfield, and LV will be looking for a second-year leap from him here in 2023. White scored a touchdown on the first drive, and turned thirteen carries in 43 rushing yards. Cole Fotheringham made some noise at the position left vacant by the trade of Darren Waller. The 2022 fifth round pick came from a great group of tight ends at Utah, and he caught five balls for 71 receiving yards in the win over SFG.
Rams Preseason Preview
Los Angeles dropped the battle of LA to open the preseason, as the Chargers jumped on them early and won by seventeen, 34-17. The Rams allowed points on the Bolts first three possessions, and they’ll attempt to turn things around here against the Raiders. Former UGA Stetson Bennett was solid in his debut, playing three quarters, and going 17/29 for 191 passing yards, and a touchdown.
Rookie running back Zach Evans led the team in rushing with 34 rushing yards, while veteran Royce Freeman snuck into the endzone late in the third quarter. Former Bucs wideout Tyler Johnson looked good by leading the receiving corps with five catches for 70 yards, while versatile BYU rookie Puka Nacua gained 32 yards and scored a touchdown.
Corey’s Free Pick
Just as when the Rams left for St. Louis, the Raiders relocating to Las Vegas takes a little flair away from this annual preseason matchup, but this contest will feature two solid rookie signal callers. Both quarterbacks looked good in their NFL debut, and I think Aidan O’Connell and Stetson Bennett will lead their squads to production in this one. With both Bennett and O’Connell set to play extensive time in the ballgame, I like testing the Over for this preseason matchup.
