The Seattle Seahawks will host the Dallas Cowboys for a preseason matchup this Saturday from Lumen Field on the NFL Network.
Dallas Preseason Preview
Dallas couldn’t hold Jacksonville in their opener last weekend, and they lost by five, 28-23. The Cowboys gave up a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns at home, and they’ll attempt to clean things up here in Seattle. Cooper Rush and Will Grier are currently duking it out for the QB2 role. Rush did well in relief last season, and he went 10-12 with 83 yards before exiting last week. Grier also played well, passing 199 yards and two scores, but he tossed an interception that would go on to decide the ball game.
Deuce Vaughn may carve himself a role out in the Dallas offense this season if he carries his momentum into this contest. The former KState running back looked good in his first taste of NFL action, gaining 50 rushing yards and catching three passes. Jake Ferguson, who’s set to replace Dalton Schultz as the starter at tight end, caught three passes for 38 receiving yards.
Seahawks Preseason Preview
Seattle kicked things off with a two-score home victory over Minnesota, 24-13. The Seahawks outscored the Vikings by twenty-one points after the first quarter, and they’ll look to replicate that effort this weekend. Drew Lock tossed a pair of scores in the win, and it’s nice to see that the former Mizzou QB has settled into a role with Seattle. Former ECU quarterback Hilton Ahlers added 26 yards on the ground and closed the game with a touchdown pass to put the Vikes away.
Second round pick Zach Charbonnet may see more work in this game after showing a burst last week, and he’s set to complement Kenneth Walker III as the RB2 this season. Former OSU wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba also flashed a nice glimpse with three catches for 25 yards. Three different Seahawks caught touchdown passes, with Jake Bobo the way with 55 receiving yards.
Corey’s Free Pick
Both quarterback rooms looked solid last week, but with the magic number and the margin sitting a bit high, I like testing the latter here. After letting last week’s contest slip away from them, Dallas should come a bit sharper looking to clean things up defensively, and they should be able to keep things close, if not win the game itself. Spot the Cowboys the points for the preseason matchup.
