The Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers face off on Saturday in a Week 2 NFL preseason showdown at Levi’s Stadium.
Darnold Expected to Start Here
Getting the start in this game is expected to be Sam Darnold who was brought in this offseason to the San Francisco 49ers. Trey Lance started in Game 1 of the preseason, and now Darnold is going to get the chance to start here. With Darnold starting it’s hard to imagine that Brock Purdy is going to play here. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan has made it clear the two guys are still battling for the backup quarterback. If Lance isn’t even able to win the backup job, this could go down as one of the worst draft picks of all time. Trey Lance in the first game completed 10 of his 15 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Darnold completed 5 of his 8 passes for 84 yards. The defense in the first game was pretty awful, and they need the defense to also be a whole lot better.
All Eyes On Russell Wilson
All eyes have been on Sean Payton and Russell Wilson so far for the Broncos, and it’s going to be no different in this game. In the first preseason game, the Broncos faced off against the Denver Broncos and they were defeated 18-17. Wilson completed 7 of his 13 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Ben DeNucci completed 7 of his 9 passes for 57 yards. Jarrett Stidham completed 5 of his 15 passes for 50 yards and an interception. Jerry Jeudy looked good finishing with two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown. In this game for the Broncos it’s going to comedown to how well the defense can play. If the defense struggles, this is going to be a long game.
Shane’s Free Pick
The Broncos are going to get the job done here. The 49ers offense realy struggled in the first game and it’s not going to get any easier here against the Broncos defense. The Broncos are going to get plenty of good quarterback play here, and that is going to be the difference as Denver is going to find success. I expect Lance is going to look really bad. Back the Broncos against the spread.
