The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs face off on Sunday in Super Bowl LVII at the University of Phoenix Stadium. The last time these two teams faced off was last year, and the Chiefs won that game 42-30.

Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles come into this game with a 16-3 record overall but they haven’t really been tested in the playoff. The Eagles beat the New York Giants 38-7 in the Divisional Round, and in the last game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles were able to win 31-7. The defense has been impressive, but in the last game they really weren’t tested with Brock Purdy getting hurt early in the game. Jalen Hurts completed 15 of his 25 passes for 121 yards. He also rushed 11 times for 39 yards and a touchdown. It can’t really be a knock on Hurts that he didn’t throw a ton in the last game, but if the Eagles need him to be good, they need him to have a big game through the air. Tackle Lane Johnson is dealing a groin injury, but it looks like he’s going to be able to go in this game.

Chiefs Betting Preview

The Chiefs currently sit with a 16-3 record overall and although they have been tested in the playoffs, they are only one win away from a championship. In the Divisional Round, they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20, and in the last game against the Cincinnati Bengals, they secured a 23-20 victory. Patrick Mahomes completed 29 of his 43 passes against the Bengals for 326 yards and two touchdowns. One thing the Chiefs didn’t do very well was run the ball. Isiah Pacheco was the leading rusher finishing with 10 carries for 26 yards. Mahomes is still dealing with the ankle injury but with the extra week of rest, I would expect that he’s going to be close to 100 percent. Kadarius Toney is dealing with an ankle injury, but it’s expected that he’s going to be able to play in this game.

Eagles vs Chiefs Trends

The Chiefs are 1-5 against the spread in their last five games following an against the spread win. The under is 5-0 in the Eagles last five games on grass. The under is 4-0 in the Eagles four games. The Eagles are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine playoff games. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings played between the Eagles and Chiefs.

Shane’s Free Pick

I have some major concerns about the Eagles heading into this Super Bowl. The Eagles are facing a real quarterback in Patrick Mahomes in this game, and their defense isn’t going to look as impressive as they have the first two games of the playoffs. Mahomes threw for two touchdowns in the last game and he’s going to throw for at least that here. The Chiefs defense is going to slow down Hurts and that will be the difference here as the Chiefs will get the job done. Back the Chiefs against the spread.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
