Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 1/16/23 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet Monday in the NFC Wild Card NFL Playoffs at Raymond James Stadium. Let’s take a look at the odds, history, injuries and give out a pick for this game.
Odds
The Buccaneers are 2.5 point underdogs and +120 on the ML. The over/under is at 45 points.
Last Meeting
The Bucs and Cowboys met earlier this season in week 1 on September 11. The Buccaneers won the game on the road 19-3 as 2.5 point favorites. Of course, that was the game Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott hurt his hand, and he ended up missing several weeks. The home team has won 7 of the last 10 meetings between the Cowboys and Buccaneers. The Cowboys have won 7 of the last 10 meetings against the Buccaneers.
Injuries
Cornerback Trayvon Mullen is out for the Cowboys, while tackle Tyron Smith and defensive end Demarcus Lawrence are probable. For Tampa Bay, safety Logan Ryan and wide receiver Mike Evans are probable, while tight end Kyle Rudolph and guard Nick Leverett are doubtful.
Trends
The Cowboys are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Buccaneers are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Buccaneers are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 home games. The over is 5-2 in Cowboys last 7 games overall. The over is 4-1 in Buccaneers last 5 games overall. The Cowboys are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings. The underdog is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings. The road team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
Pick
The Dallas Cowboys are obviously the better team and should be favored, as the Bucs have been subpar at best all season and are only in the playoffs because of a lousy division. However, the Bucs are still at home and they have Tom Bray at quarterback. There's value to getting free points with a guy who has thrived in the postseason time and time again. Prescott has started in just 4 playoff games for his career, and he's been on the losing side in 3 of those games. I'll grab the points with the Buccaneers at home.
