The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles face off on Sunday in a Week 18 NFL showdown at Lincoln Financial Field. On December 11th it was the Eagles that secured the 48-22 victory.
The Giants come into this game with a 9-6-1 record overall and they have gone 12-4 against the spread. In the last game against the Indianapolis Colts the offense scored 38 points and that led to the 28-point victory. Daniel Jones completed 19 of his 24 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also rushed 11 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns. The Giants are averaging 21.8 points while their defense is giving up 21.8 points per game. It’s unclear at this point, but it does look the Giants are going to rest some players for this game. If Jones starts it looks like Tyrod Taylor will get the start.
On the other side of this matchup is the Philadelphia Eagles who sit with a 13-3 record and they have gone 8-8 against the spread. If the Eagles win this game they will have the top seed. The Eagles have lost two games in a row and in the last game against the New Orleans Saints, the offense only scored 10 points. Gardner Minshew started the last two games, but it looks like Jalen Hurts will get the start in this game. Hurts on the season has thrown for 3,472 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 747 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Giants are 6-1 in their last seven road games. The over is 5-0 in the Eagles last five games against a team with a winning record. The under is 4-0-1 in the Giants last five games after allowing less than 150 yards passing in their previous game.
Unless there is a firm answer on the Giants plan heading into this game, this game needs to be bet lightly. The Eagles defense has been strong all season, and they are going to slow down the Giants, no matter who starts at quarterback. Getting Hurts back is going to really improve the Eagles offense also. The Eagles offense will be the difference as they cover the spread.
