The Washington Commanders and Cleveland Browns face off on Sunday in a Week 17 NFL showdown at FedExField. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was the Browns that secured the 34-20 victory.
Cleveland comes into this game with a 6-9 record overall and they have gone 7-8 against the spread. In the last game against the New Orleans Saints, the Browns offense only scored 10 points, and it was another loss. Deshaun Watson completed 15 of his 31 passes for 135 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Nick Chubb finished with 24 carries for 92 yards. The Browns are averaging 21.5 points while their defense is giving up 22.9 points per game. Kareem Hunt is dealing with a shoulder injury but it’s expected that he’s going to be able to play in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is Washington who sits with a 7-7-1 record overall and they have gone 7-7-1 against the spread. In the last game against the San Francisco 49ers the defense really struggled giving up 37 points, and they ended up losing by 17 points. Carson Wentz came in relief in the last game throwing for 123 yards and a touchdown. Wentz will again get the start in this game. Washington is averaging 19 points while their defense is giving up 20.8 points per game. Wentz on the season has thrown for 1,612 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Wentz needs to do everything in his power to not turn over the ball here.
The Commanders are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against a team with a losing record. The under is 5-0 in the Browns last five games. The under is 4-0 in the Commanders last four games against a team with a losing record.
I really don’t trust either of these offenses, and I don’t believe Wentz is the answer for Washington at quarterback. Look for both offenses to have some major issues scoring, and that will be the difference as this game statins under the total. Back the under to cash here with ease.
