The Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars face off on Sunday in an NFL showdown at EverBank Field. When these two teams faced off in 2019 it was the Jaguars that secured the 20-16 victory. Both of these teams have been very disappointing this season.
The Raiders come into this game with a 2-5 record overall, and they are coming off another terrible loss in the last game. The Raiders' offense didn’t get on the board against the New Orleans Saints, and that led to the 24-point defeat. Derek Carr completed 15 of his 26 passes for 101 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Two games ago, against the Houston Texans, the Raiders scored 38 points and were able to secure an 18-point victory. The Raiders are averaging 23.3 points, while their defense is giving up 24.5 points per game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Jaguars, who sit with a 2-6 record overall, and they have gone 2-6 against the spread. In the last game against the Denver Broncos, the Jaguars were competitive, but they were outscored 14-7 in the second half and that led to the defeat. Trevor Lawrence is still making some bad mistakes and in the last game, he completed 18 of his 31 passes for 133 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He needs to clean up the interception issues. The Jaguars are averaging 21.5 points, while their defense is giving up 19.8 points per game.
The Raiders are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games against a team with a losing record. The Jaguars are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight home games. The Raiders are 2-5 against the spread in the last seven meetings played between the two teams.
I really don’t trust either of these teams, and that comes down to both of the offenses. Both of these teams have inconsistent offenses, and at least one of the teams here will really struggle to score. It wouldn’t shock me if both teams finish under 20 points, and this game will stay under the total. Back the under.
Shane’s Pick Under 47.5
