The New York Jets and Denver Broncos face off on Sunday in a Week 7 NFL showdown at Empower Field at Mile High. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was the Broncos that secured the 26-0 victory.
The Jets come into this game with a 4-2 record overall, and they have won three games in a row. In the last game against the Green Bay Packers, the defense was elite, giving up only 10 points, and that led to the victory. Quarterback Zach Wilson completed 10 of his 18 passes for 110 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Rookie Breece Hall is having a strong rookie season and in the last game, he finished with 20 carries for 116 yards and one touchdown. The Jets are averaging 23.8 points, while their defense is giving up 21.3 points per game. Wide receiver Elijah Moore has requested a trade, and he won’t play in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Denver Broncos, who sit with a 2-4 record overall, and they are coming off another loss in their last game. They forced overtime against the Los Angeles Chargers, but couldn’t score with the extra time and were defeated by a field goal. Russell Wilson completed 15 of his 28 passes for 188 yards, and one touchdown. The Broncos made the big trade for Wilson this offseason, but he has mostly been a big disappointment. The Broncos' offense is averaging only 15.2 points per game, which is 32nd in the NFL. The Broncos need to find a way to move the ball here.
The Jets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games. The Broncos are 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games overall. The Jets are 1-5 against the spread in the last six meetings against Denver. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Denver.
I’m still not 100 percent sold on this Jets team, but their offense can at least move the ball, something that can’t be said for the Broncos offense. Wilson looks lost under center for the Broncos, and he is going to struggle again in this game to move the ball. Look for Wilson to make the right throws, and the Jets will cover the spread.
