The Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints face off on Sunday in a Week 5 NFL showdown at Mercedes-Benz Superdome. In 2021 it was the Saints that beat the Seahawks 13-10.
The Seahawks come into this game with a 2-2 record overall and they are coming off a big win in their last game. The Seahawks scored 45 points against the Lions and won by three points. Geno Smith completed 23 of his 30 passes for 320 yards and two touchdown. Rashaad Penny rushed 17 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Seattle is averaging 23.8 points while their defense is giving up 28.8 points per game. In this game, the defense is going to need to be better than it was the last game against the Lions.
On the other side of this matchup is the Saints who sit with a 1-3 record overall and they are coming off another loss in the last game. The Saints offense scored 25 points, but the defense gave up 28 points, and which led to the defeat. Andy Dalton was good in the start completing 20 his 28 passes for 236 yards, and a touchdown. The Saints are averaging 19 points while their defense is giving up 24 points per game. Jameis Winston is still deaing with a back injury and isn’t expected to be able to go in this game. Michael Thomas is dealing with a toe injury and he’s not expected to go either. The Saints are expected to get Alvin Kamara back for this game.
The Seahawks are 4-0 against the spread in thier last four games in October. The Saints are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven home games. The home team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings between the two teams.
The Seahawks were involved in a higher-scoring game but I don’t expect this game will be that high scoring. This Saints offense has been inconsistent this season and they are going to struggle to score in this game. Geno Smith is also going back to the Geno of old, and this game is going to stay under the total. Back the under.
