The Miami Dolphins will play the New York Jets in Week 5 of the NFL regular season on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Miami Dolphins are 3-1 this season after they lost to Cincinnati by a score of 27-15 in their last game. Miami actually outgained Cincinnati in this game by a total of 378-371, but turned the ball over twice and was 20% on third down conversions in the loss. The Miami offense is averaging 24.5 points per game with 291.8 passing yards per game and 69.3 rushing yards per game. Tua Tagovailoa is out with an injury, so Teddy Bridgewater will be starting at QB for Miami. Bridgewater has thrown for 193 yards, one touchdown, and one interception for the Dolphins this season. Raheem Mostert has rushed for 147 yards, while Tyreek Hill (questionable) has caught 31 passes for 477 yards and two scores for Miami. The Miami defense is giving up 22.8 points per game and 403 yards per game.
The New York Jets are 2-2 this season after they defeated Pittsburgh by a score of 24-20 in Week 4. New York trailed for a majority of this game, but was able to score 14 unanswered points to end the game with a win. The New York offense is averaging 19 points per game with 277 passing yards per game and 87.5 rushing yards per game. Zach Wilson has thrown for 252 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions for the Jets this season. Breece Hall (questionable) has rushed for 178 yards and one touchdown, while Corey Davis has caught 15 passes for 261 yards and two scores for New York. The New York defense is allowing 25.3 points per game and 326.5 yards per game.
Miami is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 October games. The under is 6-1 in Miami’s last 7 road games. New York is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games against the AFC East. The over is 5-0 in New York’s last 5 October games. The under is 4-1 in these two teams last 5 head to head meetings.
Both of the Jets wins have come on the road and have been very dramatic, while their two losses have both come at home by 15 points. Miami is without their quarterback and Hill and Waddle are both questionable. I expect Miami to have issues moving the ball, but their defense should have a decent day against the New York offense. I am going to take the under here.
