The Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts face off on Sunday in a Week 4 NFL showdown at Lucas Oil Stadium. When these two teams faced off on October 31st of last season it was Tennessee that secured the 34-31 victory in overtime.
The Titans come into this game with a 1-2 record overall and they have gone 1-2 against the spread. In the last game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Titans almost blew the game late, but they were able to hold on and to secure the 24-22 victory. One of the reasons the Titans were able to find more success was because Derrick Henry had a bigger game finishing 20 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Tannehill also completed 19 of his 27 passes for 264 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The Titans defense has been a problem and they are giving up 28 points per game which is 29th in the NFL.
On the other side of this matchup is the Colts who sit with a 1-1-1 record overall but they are coming off a win in their last game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The defense frustrated the Chiefs offense all afternoon, and that was enough to secure the 20-17 victory. Matt Ryan completed 27 of his 37 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Jonathan Taylor is dealing with a toe injury, but he is expected to be able to go in this game. The Colts are averaging 13.3 points while their defense is giving up 20.3 points per game.
The Titans are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall. The Colts are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games in Week 4. The Titans are 4-1 against the spread in their last five meetings against the Colts. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the two teams.
The Colts won the last game against the Chiefs, but I’m still not sold on this offense. Matt Ryan has clearly lost a step, and he’s not going to have the best game here. I expect Henry to have another big game for the Titans, and that is going to be the difference here as Tennessee gets the job done. Back the Titans against the spread.
