New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers - 9/25/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers face off on Sunday in a Week 3 NFL showdown at the Bank of America Stadium.
The Saints come into this game with a 1-1 record overall but they looked really bad in the last game. After making a comeback against the Falcons in Week 1, the offense could only manage 10 points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and that led to the 10-point defeat. Under center for the Saints is Jameis Winston and he completed 25 of his 40 passes for 236 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Michael Thomas is fully healthy and he has had a strong start to the season. In the last game, he caught six passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. Alvin Kamara is dealing with a rib injury and has been unlimited in practice. It’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Panthers who have gotten out to a slow start to the season and they sit with an 0-2 record. The Panthers lost to Cleveland Browns 26-24 to start the season and in the last game against the Giants they were defeated 19-16. Under center for the Panthers is Baker Mayfield and in the last game he completed 14 of his 29 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown. Christian McCaffrey also had a big game rushing 15 times for 102 yards. D.J. Moore was the top wide receiver catching three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. McCaffrey has missed some practice this week because of injury, but he is expected to go in this game.
The Panthers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games in Week 3. The Panthers are 0-7 against the spread in their last seven games following an against the spread loss. The over is 6-1 in the Panthers last seven games on grass. The over is 6-1 in the Saints last seven games in Week 3.
I really don’t trust either of these quarterbacks, and I expect the defense is going to be the strength of each team here. The Panthers gave up 19 points in the last game, and the Saints won’t go over that number here. I actually expect both teams to finish under 17 points, and the under is going to be an easy winner. Back the under.
