The Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders clash Sunday afternoon in week 2 NFL action at Ford Field. The Detroit Lions look to avoid their third straight 0-2 start to the season. The Washington Commanders look for their first 2-0 start since the 2011 season.
The Detroit Lions have lost 6 of their last 9 home games. Jared Goff is completing 56.8 percent of his passes for 215 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Amon-Ra St. Brown and DJ Chark have combined for 116 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, while TJ Hockenson has 4 receptions. The Detroit Lions ground game is averaging 181 yards per contest, and D’Andre Swift leads the way with 144 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 38 points and 455 yards per game. Tracy Walker III leads the Detroit Lions with 13 tackles, Jeff Okudah has 1 pass deflection and Austin Bryant has 1 pass deflection.
The Washington Commanders have split their last 8 road games. Carson Wentz is completing 65.9 percent of his passes for 313 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin have combined for 130 receiving yards and 1 touchdown, while Curtis Samuel has 8 receptions. The Washington Commanders ground game is averaging 85 yards per contest, and Gibson leads the way with 58 yards on 14 carries. Defensively, Washington is allowing 22 points and 383 yards per game. William Jackson III leads the Washington Commanders with 9 tackles, Daron Payne has 1 sack and Darrick Forrest has 1 interception.
The Commanders are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Lions are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The under is 9-4 in Commanders last 13 games overall. The over is 17-7 in Lions last 24 home games. The Commanders are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Detroit and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
The Washington Commanders had issues getting off the field last week against the Jaguars, and their secondary got torched for 260 yards. No Chase Young, the Commanders could have some issues yet again. The Detroit Lions found themselves in a shootout with the Eagles, as the ground game looked great, but the defense couldn’t stop the run, and they’re 28th in total defense and 29th in scoring defense through 1 game. Based on what we saw through the first week, we could see some more fireworks here. The over is 5-2 in the Lion’s last 7 games. Give me the over.
