Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars - 9/18/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars face off on Sunday in a Week 2 NFL showdown at EverBank Field.
The Colts still have high expectations for this season but there are some questions about this team after the first game of the season. At halftime against the Houston Texans, the Colts were down 10-3 and although they fought back, the ended in a 20-20 draw. Matt Ryan completed 32 of his 50 passes 352 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Jonathan Taylor still looks like the best back in the NFL rushing 31 times for 161 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. caught nine passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. Pttman Jr is dealing with a quad injury and won’t be able to go in this game. The Colts need to do a better job of finishing drives with touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Jaguars and they opened up their season with a 28-22 defeat at the hand of the Washington Commanders. The Jaguars made a bit of a comeback in the second half, but they were outscored 14-10 in the second half and that led to the defeat. Trevor Lawrence completed 24 of his 42 passes for 275 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. There were some questions about bringing in Christian Kirk this offseason but he had a big first game catching six passes for 117 yards. On defense, the Jaguars created a couple of turnovers, but the defense let the Commanders move up and down the field. The Jaguars are healthy heading into this game.
The Colts are 6-2 in their last eight road games. Jacksonville is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against the AFC. The underdog is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games overall. The under is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings between the two teams.
Not having Pittman for the Colts is a big loss for a team that had issues finding the end zone in the first game. This has also been a series where the underdog has found some success. In this game look for a big game from Lawrence, and I think the Jaguars can pull off the upset. The Jaguars created two turnovers in the first game, and they will create a couple off the Colts here. Back the Jaguars against the spread.
