Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers - 9/18/22 NFL Picks and Prediction
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers face off on Sunday Night Football in a Week 2 NFL showdown at Lambeau Field.
The Packers opened up the season against the Minnesota Vikings, and they looked really bad. The offense only managed seven points and they were defeated 23-7. Aaron Rodgers completed 22 of his 34 passes for 195 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. It’s clear that Rodgers isn’t on the same page as his wide receivers yet and that will need to be cleared up quickly. Christian Watson dropped an easy touchdown early in the game, and the team didn’t seem to bounce back from that. The top wide receiver in Game 1 was AJ Dillon who caught five passes for 46 yards.
On the other side of this matchup is the Bears who opened up their season with a 19-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, but that didn’t really seem to answer a whole lot of questions. It was a rainstorm, and it made it really hard for both teams to rush the ball. Justin Fields completed 8 of his 17 passes for 121 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Khalil Herbert was the top back rushing nine times for 45 yards. Dante Pettis had 51 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense looked really good in game 1, but this is a much bigger test.
Chicago is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games. The Packers are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Green Bay. The favorite is 5-0 in the last five meetings.
The Packers didn’t look great in the first game, but that will change in this game. The Bears offensive line is still an issue and the Packers will spend Sunday night in the backfield. I expect Rodgers to have a much bigger game, and I still don’t trust Justin Fields to find success in this game. It wouldn’t shock me if the Bears finish under 10 points here, and the Packers will secure the victory.
