The Minnesota Vikings will play the Denver Broncos in Week 3 of the NFL Preseason at Mile High in Denver, Colorado on Saturday night.
The Minnesota Vikings are 0-2 this preseason after losing to San Francisco by a score of 17-7 last week and losing to Las Vegas by a score of 26-20 in their first game. Last week, Minnesota scored in the second quarter to take the lead, but their offense didn’t do anything else for the rest of the game. Minnesota acquired Nick Mullens this week, so expect to see him under center on Saturday to try and get used to the playbook and a new team. Minnesota is not expected to play many starters once again this week.
The Denver Broncos are 1-1 so far this preseason with a win against Dallas by a score of 17-7 in Week 1 and a blowout loss to Buffalo by a score of 42-15 last week. In their defeat last week, Denver could not keep up with the Buffalo starters and were down 28-6 at halftime. Denver played better in the second half, but still was outscored 14-9. Denver will also sit many of their starters in this game, so expect Brett Rypien and Josh Johnson to quarterback the team.
The over is 7-1 in Minnesota’s last 8 games and the over is 9-2 in Minnesota’s last 11 road games. Denver is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games. The over is 5-1 in Denver’s last 6 Saturday games and the under is 8-3 in Denver’s last 11 games. The over is 3-1-1 in these two teams last 5 head to head meetings.
Neither team looked very good in their second game of the preseason and will look to finish on a high note. Denver was beaten badly by a good Buffalo team and I expect them bounce back in this game. Their defense will not have to matchup with the skill position players that the Bills started, which will definitely help. The Minnesota quarterback situation is not good and they looked very bad last week. I expect Mullens to play, but he can only do so much after being with the team for a few days. I am going to take the under here.
David’s Pick Under 35.5
